Berlin Center, OH - Noah’s Lost Ark Exotic Animal Rescue Center has been cited with a critical violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act for allowing a member of the public to enter a tiger enclosure with their dog while carrying a cattle prod.

On May 1, 2021, a member of the public was permitted to enter the enclosure of a 10-month-old white tiger, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection report.

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service said they obtained two videos of the member of the public interacting with the tiger. In the first video, the man is seen reaching through the enclosure fence and touching the tiger on the face, according to the USDA report.

In the second video, the man was permitted to enter the tiger’s enclosure with his dog while carrying a cattle prod.

A cattle prod is a handheld electrical device that is used to shock an animal.

The USDA inspector noted that not only was the man and his dog at risk of being injured by the tiger, but the tiger was also at risk due to the interaction.

“The member of the public carrying an electric cattle prod, apparently for protection, also places the tiger at risk for injury,” the USDA report said.

Noah’s Lost Ark was ordered to correct the critical violation by ensuring that all of their animals are handled so there is minimal risk of harm to the animal and to the public.
